WHEW!

December 7th, 2008

Closing off 2008 has been a feat I didn’t even think would happen.

The last 3 weeks have been more chaotic than I ever would have though possible…

Most of you probably know I have been working on a project with my side kick Liv Lethal, from Retro Hair and Make-Up to bring you all a pin up calendar unlike any other. We randomly had 10 girls sign up—plus 2 including myself and Liv who close off the year to have 12 different girls—more different than you could imagine! Each girl represents, in my eyes, a woman in control of not only her body, but of the people around her. Ranging from the Marilyn Monroe bombshell, to the dirty industrial rocker girl, we have created a similar tie between all of these ladies to create a work of art that flows with not only artistic vision but also with a richness in integrity for all of our calendar girls.

Liv and I have worked very hard to keep each of these girls photos completely secret—even they don’t know what images were selected OR what their images look like so that we can bring you the very first Twilight Images Calendar Release Party. We are anxiously awaiting the release of our project to share what we view as a collection of some of our best work and a prevision of what’s to come.

Here are our girls!

It’s been a while!

September 20th, 2008

Whew! I know, I know…I have not posted anything new in a bit. I promise, this will be a good post! It’s been pretty chaotic here the last month or so…I didn’t have weddings in August, BUT, I had more shoots last month I think than any other month I have worked! That’s a good thing though right! I have gotten to meet some fantastic people and have had a blast trying out new techniques.

Many of you know that I coin my photography as modern vintage. These days, it could not be MORE true. A few months ago, I teamed up with an amazing young woman named Liv who does vintage hair and make up from the 20’s to the 60’s. Since starting to work with her, she and I have been able to soar to new levels in our work! I am so happy she is part of my team and I know that all of you guys will see her as a tremendous asset to your shoots!

I am going to work my way backwards because there is a lot to post here…

Liv and I decided to create a new type of shoot in which we turn YOU into an old Hollywood Starlet based on your features. The shoot is $350 for all clients and includes your hair and make up by Liv. We have been piddling with this idea for a while, and we decided to officially test it out on doing some shots of yours truly. I now know what it is like to be Liv’s victim—well not really a victim! But, I realize now sitting on that stool can be a bit uncomfortable. hehe.

Anyway, so Liv took the shots—I had to help her and this is her first official photographic debut hehe…but she took the shots, I directed the lighting, and modeled of course:

Me as Greta Garbo (first shot is the real Greta on the left, Me on the right)

Emily and Eric Sneak Peek!

July 29th, 2008

Such a crazy day! But, at least we were INSIDE!!!

In the last 2 years, I have had a group of brides who were all friends…Shannon, Jessica, and Emily—who also know several other brides to be. This bride was the last bride from that group—whom over the last 2 years, I have gotten attached to—they have been at each others shoots, weddings, etc. and between them picking up prints, calling, emailing, and doing ALL the shoots that they did, I feel like I have become close friends with all of them. So, yes, I teared up and got a little weepy!

So, here are a few of Emily and Eric’s shots..

Kaylon and Andy:))

July 26th, 2008

Ok, I am sure you ALL know…but Kaylon has been my biggest supporter since I started my official photography business. In the last 2 years I cannot even count how many weddings, portrait sessions, and referrals this chick has given me I met her at a party when I was pregnant with Perrin…we didn’t really talk much there, but I asked her to do a shoot for me…since that shoot, we have become really great friends and there was NEVER a question as to who would photograph her wedding. This is a rare instance where I was friends with a client and agreed to do their wedding.

So, their engagement shoot:

Katrina and Phil

July 12th, 2008

Seriously the most simple wedding…ever. A guy, a girl, a dress, a tux, family and close friends. Nothing fancy, no big show…

Location: Old Town Train Station—and a family church.

And seriously—the most gorgeous cake I have ever seen. You may differ in opinion, but I fear my photos just do not do it justice. If Katrina’s G’ma still made cakes full time, I would put her in style like Martha Stewart for brides. Not only was the cake gorgeous, I ate some. yes, I ate cake. And it was mouth watering. I wish I had tasted all of the layers of cake…but I was busy. But I had the bottom layer which was carrot cake and it was the BEST carrot cake ever. It killed me when they took it down after the cake cutting.

So…
First kiss—because after the ceremony, the first think Katrina asked me was “Did the first kiss photo turn out ok!?”
*This is just one version of it*

old steps beside the train station. Lots of great spots to photograph here!!!

and, the cake…

So I bid you all good nite, and have a great week—I am off to have a relaxing vacation—then I return to do Ms. Emily’s wedding which is SURE to wear me out from having so much fun!

July 4th, 2008

I had Anya’s last shoot on Sunday—I wanted to do a Victorian Attic Tea Party theme…Of course, I break down in tears several times during the shoot like a moron…I was so embarrassed!

I will definitely miss shooting her every month, but I am sure that they will be glad for the break from my camera.

Read this post!

July 4th, 2008

I have been a member of a networking place online for quite a while and have had little luck with finding any really good resources from it. Well, one day a few weeks ago, I got an email from a girl who does vintage hair and make up. I decided to give her a go, a test run. She worked with one of my clients who had asked to do boudoir/pin up style photos. Firstly, I can’t even explain how excited I was when I saw the finished look—but, I decided to start using her for all the shoots…I was worried that clients may not pay the additional fee for her to do hair and make up–but I guess once they see her work—it sells itself. So, I have done several shoots now with Liv, and I still cannot talk highly enough about her. I want to use her for every shoot! I am sure you are all wondering what in the world could she possibly be doing! I can’t even explain it—she takes normal women and turns them into these glamourous hollywood starlets—and not only that, but because of the way the girls look afterwards, it forces me to be even more inspired and try much more challenging lighting.

So, where are the photos? hehe…
